The U.S. government "talent scout" for IT experts

The U.S. government is looking for about 10,000 young talent to strengthen their ranks of IT security experts.

And just because the U.S. in recent months are taking more and more attention in the field of cybersecurity, has opened a national competition to find the best brains.

Detailed information about the competition can be found both on the pages of the U.S. Center for Strategic International Studies, both in this document published by the White House.

The U.S. Cyber Challenge is divided into three main strands:

  • CyberPatriot Defense Competition: targeted only to high school students (high school) and sponsored by ‘Air Force Association, will see participants involved in the defense and security put into a computer network;
  • DC3 Digital Forensics Challenge: direct from Cyber Crime Center of the Department of Defense (DoD) is focused on cyber investigation and computer forensics;
  • Network Attack Competition: Under the auspices of the SANS Institute, will challenge competitors on the discovery and testing of the vulnerability of computer systems.

Those who get the highest scores attend intensive advanced courses given by various organizations and security experts, and through further selections will have the opportunity to work in agencies like the NSA, the FBI, the Department of Defense, the CERT The SANS Institute and Department of Energy.

The hope of the institutions is to identify and train the future “top guns of cybersecurity.” It will be really the case?
