First images of Gulftown, CPU core Westmere six

Circulating on the Net the first images of a sample of the forthcoming Intel high-end, based on the Westmere microarchitecture.

The successor to Bloomfield Gulftown will be called and will consist of six core made with the manufacturing process to 32 nanometers.

From the screenshot of CPU-Z software, you can deduct some of the technical features which, according to the new nomenclature Intel, should be identified as Core I9.

Pine Trail Intel confirmed the arrival by the end of the year

The Santa Clara chipmaker, however, has denied these reports, confirming the arrival of new processor for Netbook and nettop later this year.

Samsung and Intrinsity the fastest chip ARM Cortex A8

Samsung has announced that it has completed development of a new chip specifically for all ‘usage in mobile systems. Talk about a version of the ARM Cortex A8 solution that can operate at clock frequency of 1.000 MHz, well above the various implementations of this architecture is currently available.

SCE: PSPgo’s 480MHz clock speed references USB, not CPU

Looks like all that excitement over PSPgo’s faster (but likely to be underused) 480MHz processor is all for naught. Our friends at Engadget Japan have gotten in contact with Sony Computer Entertainment and been informed that the Maximum clock frequency mentioned here is for the USB device, not the CPU. All those dreams of hacked firmware to unlock more power? Better hold that thought for now.
